Canadian cloud storage

Last verified:

Short answer

Sync.com, CA Disk, and GN Cloud each say consumer or business files stay in Canadian data centres. Sync.com and CACloud describe companies that operate Canadian infrastructure. GN Cloud is a Vancouver MSP hosting Nextcloud. Proton Drive and Google Drive are common comparisons and are not Canadian operators.

What you are comparing

Google Drive and Dropbox are the file hosts most people mean. This page focuses on Canadian operators with cited residency claims.

A Canada region on a US company’s cloud is a different fact from a Canadian company holding the files.

Google’s locations page lists the Googleplex in Mountain View among its offices. That list is not a legal headquarters filing.

Comparison

Verdicts use the digital services rubric, not the grocery score. A Canada region on a foreign cloud is not a Canadian operator. Notes about PIPEDA or the US CLOUD Act are not legal advice.
